Appreciation post: A guy in my crew showed me how to fix a bubble in a seam with just a scrap piece and a roller, saved a whole job in Phoenix last Thursday.

A bubble in a seam can be a real headache, but saving a whole job seems like a stretch. Was the entire install really going to fail over one flaw? Most times you can work around it or do a small repair without scrapping everything. Sounds more like a handy tip than a major rescue mission.

You said most times you can work around a bubble, and that's usually true. But my buddy had a vinyl floor job where a tiny seam bubble was right where two big sections met. When he tried to fix it, the whole seam started to lift because the adhesive had gone bad in that spot. It wasn't just one bubble, it was a sign the whole seam was weak. If he'd left it, the customer would have had a huge split within a month. He had to pull up and redo a ten foot section to make it right. That one flaw really was about to tank the whole install.

Reminds me of a time a rookie used a heat gun on vinyl and melted a whole section. That was a real rescue job.
