A customer made me rethink how I cut door frames
Had a lady stop me halfway through a job last Tuesday. She watched me notch the jamb and said 'why not just pull the carpet under?' I told her that's not standard. She showed me her old carpet, tucked clean under with no cuts visible. Looked way cleaner. Now I'm trying it on every door frame. Anybody else do this or am I asking for callbacks?

Dude, the carpet tuck trick is a game changer. Found out about it from an old timer when I started out. He showed me how to slice the carpet under the jamb with a utility knife and leave the door frame whole. Saves so much time on touch ups and paint, plus the customer sees a perfect line. Never had a callback from it. Been doing it for two years now.

Game changer" is right, I read something similar in a flooring forum once and it stuck with me. Seems like one of those tricks that sounds too simple but actually saves you from scraping paint and fixing ugly cuts later. I bet the customers love that clean finish too, good on the old timer for passing that down.
