Question about old school framing squares. I was cleaning out my grandpa's garage in Boise last week and found his old steel one from the 50s. It weighs like 5 pounds.

@johnson.daniel I'd be careful testing that theory. Those old steel blades were tough but they can chip or crack if you hit them wrong (especially with a bullet impact). Better off just using it for what it was made for.

But did he ever use it for anything besides carpentry? I've heard stories of guys using them as a makeshift hammer or pry bar in a pinch. That steel was built to last.
