Our park's new furniture flipped my opinion on treated wood
I used to think pressure-treated lumber was only for rough jobs and looked cheap. But the new picnic tables at our local park changed that completely! They've been through rain and snow and still look great. I chatted with the carpenter who built them, and he shared his simple sealing trick. Now I'm using it for a shed project in my backyard. It's holding up way better than I ever expected. What a cool lesson from a neighborhood build!

My buddy Dave built his whole deck with treated pine a few years back and was so worried it would gray and split. He used this oil-based stain the guys at the lumberyard told him about, applied it twice the first year. That thing still looks brand new, even with his kids leaving toys and water out all the time. Really changed how I see using that wood for nice projects.

Hold on, treated pine is a real gamble for any nice project. That wood is soaked with chemicals that can warp or check badly no matter what you put on it. I've seen oil stains fail in two years when the treatment salts bleed through and ruin the finish. Your buddy got a good batch, but that's luck more than anything.

What brand of stain was it? I'm always skeptical when lumberyard guys recommend stuff.
