Framed a 14x20 shed in Loveland last Tuesday and my nail gun jammed 9 times before lunch
I picked up a refurbished framing nailer at a pawn shop in Loveland two weeks back and figured I got a deal at $110, but it choked on me 9 separate times in one morning. Every jam happened mid shot on 16d nails, so I had to stop, pull the magazine apart, and dig the bent nail out with a flathead while my helper just stood there holding the wall. I finally swapped to my old Paslode that afternoon and it ran clean the rest of the day, which tells me the problem is the tool, not the nails or the wood. I tore the pawn shop gun down that night and found the driver blade was worn down about an eighth inch, so no wonder it was misfeeding. My take is simple, a cheap gun costs you more in lost time than you ever save on the sticker price. What do you all do with a gun that jams like this, rebuild it or just eat the loss and toss it?
