Unpopular opinion: Skipping lunch made me worse at my job, not better.
I used to think working through lunch showed I was hardworking. In my dental office, I would clean extra tools or catch up on notes instead of eating. Then I began feeling tired and missing small things, like appointment times. My boss sat me down and said breaks help you stay sharp for patients. Now I take my full break every day, and I make fewer mistakes. Why do we push ourselves to the point it hurts our work?

My shop improved once I stopped working through lunch.

Makes sense, @simon_coleman. A tired brain makes worse calls all afternoon, and that adds up fast (bad orders, rushed jobs). Giving yourself that reset is basically a quality control move.

Wow, my buddy's auto shop saw fewer comebacks after he started taking real breaks.
