Spent $200 on a career coaching program that was just generic advice I could've googled

Wasted 3 months and $200 on a coach who basically told me to update my LinkedIn and network. Anyone else get burned by overpriced career services?

$200 is actually pretty cheap for career coaching, that's like two or three sessions with someone decent. The problem is people expect a magic bullet solution for that price instead of realizing you're paying for accountability and structure. If you already knew everything you needed to do on LinkedIn and networking, why weren't you doing it before you paid someone? The real value is having a third party who isn't your mom or friend call you out on your weak spots and push you to actually follow through.
