Overheard my manager say 'just promote the fastest coder' and that stuck with me all day
I was grabbing coffee near the break room and heard my boss tell another lead that they should push the guy who finishes tickets fastest. No mention of code quality, teamwork, or if the guy even helps others. I've been here 3 years and seen two 'fast' people get promoted then crash because they couldn't handle real problems. Has anyone else seen a company reward speed over everything and regret it later?
