Old habit of never asking for feedback, now I do it every month

For 6 years I'd just wait for my annual review and guess what my boss thought, then I started sending a short monthly check-in with three questions about my projects. My manager at the Denver office actually loves it and I've caught two small issues before they grew. Has anyone else set up a regular feedback loop that stuck?
