Sure, hands-on stuff works for some fields, but try that in engineering or medicine and see how far you get. A degree gives you the full, structured learning and theory that lets you solve complex problems, not just follow tutorials. @kelly.grace cheering on the portfolio path ignores how many doors are actually locked without that formal credential. Good luck getting past HR without the piece of paper for tons of real, high-paying jobs.

I learned more from hands-on projects than any classroom. Building a solid portfolio opened way more doors for me.
