My old supervisor wanted me to keep clients in the dark about a bug
Honestly, at my last job, my boss said I should hide a major software bug from clients. Tbh, it felt totally wrong because they'd find out eventually. I went against him and told a client, which led to a big argument. Ngl, I lost sleep over it and still wonder if I made the right call.

Yeah that paper trail idea is solid. I’d email the boss saying "just to confirm, you want me to hide this bug?" It covers you and makes them really think about it.

Man, that's a classic ethical dilemma. From my own run-in with this, creating a paper trail was key. I wrote up a brief risk assessment about not telling the client and shared it with my boss. It forced a real conversation and often made them change their mind!

Tried to skip the paper trail once and it blew up in my face. Now I cc everyone on everything just to cover my bases.
