My mentor pushes specialization, but I fear missing out on other paths...

Locking in too early could backfire if industries change.

Mentors love narrow paths, but the world is wide.

Ugh, this reminds me of my friend Jake. His old boss, who was supposed to be his mentor, kept telling him the only way up was to become a manager. Jake hated that idea but felt stuck. He finally quit, took a weird job at a small non-profit, and totally figured out his own thing. Honestly @the_david, that line about the wide world is so true. That mentor just saw one narrow path, but Jake found a whole different road that actually worked for him.

I dunno, seems like we're making too big a deal out of this. Mentors aren't always right, but it's not some huge crisis lol. People figure stuff out on their own anyway.
