I started writing down every meeting question before I ask it and it changed my job

I kept getting vague answers from my boss when I asked for help on projects. Last month, I began writing my exact question on a notepad before speaking up in our weekly check-ins. For example, instead of 'I'm stuck on the client report,' I wrote 'What are the three key metrics the client wants to see on page one?' I got clear, useful answers right away the first time I tried it. Has anyone else found a simple trick like this to get better guidance at work?

That sounds like extra prep work for something a good manager should already provide.

Right, because we all have those magical good managers who just know everything. Must be nice in that fantasy land. My manager needs a map and a flashlight to find basic info. Guess I'll just keep doing their job for them, it's basically in my job description now.
