Finally got promoted after 3 years in the same role at a Chicago accounting firm

Last month my manager called me in and told me I'd be moving up to senior analyst starting next quarter. Has anyone else had to wait way longer than they expected for a promotion that felt overdue?

Yeah congrats man. 3 years is brutal to wait for what you already earned.

Man that's rough. Three years in the same place without moving up feels like an eternity, especially when you're grinding it out at a Chicago accounting firm where the winters are already long enough. You probably had to watch newer people come in and get opportunities while you were stuck doing the same thing over and over. It's crazy how some companies just sit on promotions until they absolutely have to give them to you, like they're trying to save a few bucks at your expense. But hey, you stuck it out and got that senior analyst title finally, so that's something to be proud of. That validation must feel good after all that waiting.

Congratulations on the promotion. Three years is a long time to wait for that, especially if you felt like you were doing senior level work already. A lot of places drag their feet on giving out titles because they don't want to pay someone more for what they are already doing. You earned that raise.
