Shoutout to the u-pull-it yard guy who saved me $400 on a transmission swap

Dude at the LKQ in Phoenix pointed me to a 2012 Civic with only 60k miles that they'd just rolled in, and he helped me yank the trans in like 20 minutes. Has anyone else had a stranger at a junkyard totally change their repair budget with a tip like that?

Wait, 60k miles on a 2012 Civic at a pick-n-pull? That's insane. I've been to like 8 different yards in the last year and the newest low-mileage thing I ever spotted was a 2007 Corolla with 120k on it, and even that felt like finding a unicorn. Someone must have really messed up that Civic for it to end up there that fast. Lucky you, that transmission is probably still solid as a rock.

Bet the car had a salvage title from a minor accident the owner didn't want to fix, some people just dump cars rather than deal with insurance. That Civic probably got t-boned in a parking lot or had a fender bender that pushed the repair cost over what it was worth to them. Whole drivetrain is probably cherry though, someone's gonna score big with that motor and trans swap.
