I drove 3 hours to pick up what looked like a clean Accord on the listing, but the frame was bent so bad the doors didn't line up. The auction fees plus having to tow it home cost me $1,200 more than I planned. Anyone else get burned by trusting online photos?

Did you at least check the VIN before you bid?

Haha, honestly I don't think the VIN really tells you everything. I've seen cars with clean VINs that were total lemons and wrecks with dirty ones that ran like new. A lot of times the history reports miss stuff or get delayed, so you're still rolling the dice no matter what. Plus if the price is low enough and you can eyeball the condition yourself, I'd say go for it.
