Changed my mind about fixing a rotted door on a 2005 Ford Focus
I was ready to junk a 2005 Ford Focus I picked up for $800 because the driver's door had rust all along the bottom and the window regulator was shot. Then I found out from a guy on a Focus forum that Ford still sells the entire door shell for $220 new, and the regulator kit is $45 on RockAuto. Has anyone else come across a part they assumed was gone but turned out to be cheap and available?

$220 for a whole door shell? That's insane for a car that old.

@Gavina73 that's exactly what I thought too until a buddy of mine had the same thing happen with his old Chevy Malibu. He was about to scrap it because the rear quarter panel was completely rotted out and he figured no way any parts existed. Then he stumbled on a GM parts warehouse that still had NOS panels from 2006 sitting in their warehouse for under 200 bucks. He told me he could not believe it either. Stuff like that makes you realize how much inventory the manufacturers still hold onto, especially for cars that sold in big numbers.
