Why does no one want a Firefly prequel about the Alliance side

I was reading a fan forum last week where everyone agreed the show should come back following the crew of Serenity, but I think that misses the point. A prequel following Alliance soldiers or politicians trying to hold things together after the war would show a completely different take on that universe, one that doesn't rely on the same outlaw charm. Wouldn't that be more interesting than another round of the same crew dodging Reavers?

Admit I used to roll my eyes at anything that wasn't the Serenity crew, but you've got a point here. Seeing the war from the other side, watching them deal with the fallout and the guilt, that's a story with real weight behind it. Those soldiers and politicians would have way more to lose than Mal ever did, and that tension could make for some seriously gripping TV.
