Stopped at a diner in Scranton and saw a poster that changed my mind about 'Freaks and Geeks'

I always thought that show was just overhyped 90s nostalgia, but the poster had a quote from a writer saying they had 5 more seasons mapped out. It made me realize how much story they actually had left. Anyone else see something random that flipped your opinion on a canceled show?

Man, that 5 seasons thing is exactly what made me kinda roll my eyes when I first heard it. I mean sure, they had ideas, but every showrunner says they had a plan. It's like when a band says their unreleased album was their best work. We never got to see it, so we can't really know. The show had one season and it was good, don't get me wrong, but people act like it was some lost masterpiece. Maybe it would have gotten stale or jumped the shark like so many other shows do. I dunno, I just think the myth around it grew bigger than the actual show ever was.

Remembered this whole argument I had with my buddy @rileynelson a few years back about this band dropping their one album and then breaking up... he swore they were gonna be the next big thing and I was like man, you're building up this whole legacy in your head based on like 35 minutes of music. I get what you're saying though, sometimes the mystery of what could have been just hits different than what actually was.

Man it's crazy how much we do that with everything, not just shows or music. I catch myself doing it with old restaurants that closed down - like "man that pizza place that lasted six months had the best slices in town." Really? Or did I just hype it up because I can't go there anymore and prove myself wrong. It's the whole "the one that got away" thing we do with people too, where every ex becomes this perfect person once they're gone.
