Still bitter they canned 'The OA' after that cliffhanger
I dropped like $40 on a pretty niche OA fan forum membership back in 2019 thinking season 3 would get greenlit any day now. Anyone else still holding out hope or am I just throwing good money after bad?

Still bitter they canned 'The OA' after that cliffhanger" is putting it mildly. I read somewhere that the show was actually too expensive for Netflix to keep making, which is a shame because it was one of the only shows that made me feel something real. I never dropped $40 on a forum membership, but I did buy the soundtrack on vinyl thinking it would help boost support for a third season. Honestly, I'm not holding my breath anymore. That weird dance scene in the season 2 finale was just too out there for most people to get behind.

Ngl, you're right about that dance scene being a bridge too far for most people. I remember watching it with a buddy and he literally walked out of the room like "what is this, interpretive theater?" But here's the thing, that whole season was building to something so specific and weird and beautiful. The way they tied the movements to actual interdimensional travel, not just as a metaphor but as a literal mechanism, that was the kind of risk taking you just don't see anymore. Honestly, I think Netflix got scared after how "Sense8" went down too, same kind of passionate but niche fanbase, same expensive production values. They'd rather pump out another reality show for pocket change than gamble on something that might actually make people think.
