My buddy Rick bet me $20 that "The Mick" would get saved by Netflix, and I just got my $20 back
Rick runs a sports bar here in Tulsa and swears he knows how streaming renewals work. Back in March he promised me Netflix would pick up The Mick for a 3rd season because "the fans are loud enough." I checked the renewal trackers once a week for 5 months and nothing ever moved. He paid up last Friday, right at the bar, in ones. So which dead sitcom actually has a real shot at coming back, and which one is just fan cope?
Rick had the right idea, the trackers just never move the way people hope. Netflix almost never saves a show that a real network already killed, they want stuff they own or can buy cheap, and The Mick was a Fox show with a big cast and higher costs. The shows that actually come back are the ones with a studio shopping them around AND a cast that wants to do it, not just loud fans online. Streaming renewals run on money and rights, not how many people tweet about it. Fan campaigns feel like they work because we only hear about the handful that do, and the hundreds that flop get forgotten.
