Just learned Netflix cancelled The OA because of a budget dispute with the creators over season 3

I was reading an article on Vulture yesterday and it said the streaming numbers were actually decent, but the production costs got way too high. Anyone else think they should just do a limited final season instead of leaving it hanging?

Oh man, saw that Vulture article too! It's such a bummer because I really thought The OA was building up to something wild with those dimensions. I get that the budget got crazy, but leaving it on that cliffhanger after season 2 feels like a slap in the face to the fans who stuck with it. They could totally do a shorter final season, even like 6 episodes, just to wrap things up properly. It makes me wonder if Netflix just didn't wanna commit to the long game with it, you know?

The five seasons were already mapped out @hannahs45, not like Netflix gave them a choice.

Yeah the "building up to something wild" part is spot on. That show was clearly going somewhere huge with the multiverse stuff and the invisible river concept. A 6 episode limited run would honestly be perfect to tie up the loose ends and give fans some closure.
