I gave up on a show after 3 episodes in 2019, then binged it all in a week when I got sick this January
Two years ago I tried watching The OA on Netflix and quit after 3 episodes because I thought it was too slow and weird. Then this past January I caught that flu thing going around Columbus and was stuck on my couch for 6 days straight with nothing to do. I figured why not give it another shot since people keep saying it got cancelled too soon. By day 3 of being sick I was 5 episodes deep and totally hooked. The thing that got me was how the movements and the whole mystery actually pay off if you just stick with it past that first hump. When I finished the second season and saw that cliffhanger I literally yelled at my TV because now I get why people are still mad about the cancellation. It made me realize I probably wrote off a bunch of other shows way too fast just because the first couple episodes didn't grab me. Does anyone else have a show they quit early and then fell in love with later?
Same here with Breaking Bad, quit halfway through season 1 twice before it finally clicked. Sometimes a show just needs the right mood and a lot of free time to win you over. The OA is a perfect example of sticking with it, that payoff is worth the slow start.
