Tried calling someone out on Twitter instead of just blocking them...

Last week I got into it with a small influencer who posted something I thought was really harmful about mental health. Instead of just scrolling past like I usually do, I replied with a polite question about their source. Within 2 hours, I had 40+ replies calling me a bully and a gatekeeper, even though I never once attacked them personally. The influencer themselves didn't even respond, but their followers tore me apart. I learned that even asking a simple question can get you labeled as part of the cancel culture mob, and now I'm wondering if there's any safe way to disagree publicly anymore... has anyone else dealt with being dogpiled just for asking for proof?

Forty replies in two hours sounds like a nightmare.

Haha oh man, I get tired just looking at my inbox after 10 replies. Forty in two hours would break my brain lol.

Had a buddy who ran a bicycle shop a few years back. He tried to answer every single customer email himself during the holiday rush. After three days of that, he stopped answering his own phone for a week. Said his fingers physically ached and he started seeing email threads in his sleep. He finally caved and hired a part time person just to sort the messages for him.
