Saw a local comedian go from sold-out shows to getting dropped by his venue in about 8 months. Was it a fair call-out or an overreaction?

Had a friend in a similar spot. He got lazy, recycled the same tired crowd work for a year. The venue manager flat out told him the act wasn't growing and the numbers were down. It stung, but he needed to hear it. He went back to writing new material and is slowly rebuilding.

Sometimes the crowd just gets boring, not the act.

Oh man, I've seen that exact thing happen with a local band I used to follow. They coasted on the same setlist for months and their crowd just evaporated. @amy_murphy85, your friend's lucky he got that wake-up call before it was too late.
