Pro tip: I called out a small creator publicly and the backlash taught me a weird lesson about scale
So I called out this YouTuber with maybe 3k subs for using a script from a bigger channel without credit. I figured I was doing the right thing, calling out bad behavior. But their fans flooded my comments saying I was bullying a small creator for a tiny mistake. The bigger creator even asked me to drop it. What I learned is that cancel culture hits way harder when the person has a small dedicated community versus a huge one where nobody really cares. Has anyone else seen the rules change based on how many followers someone has?

I saw a video essay recently that talked about how small communities are way more protective of their creators because they feel like they actually know them. Makes sense when you think about it, a channel with 3k subs probably has fans who interact with the creator directly in comments and stuff. Meanwhile a huge creator has millions of followers who are just passing through and don't really care enough to defend them. So you basically poked a hornet's nest that was small but full of people who were all paying attention. Nobody's gonna rally to defend some random millionaire youtuber though, that's just how the numbers work.

Same reason the local mechanic knows your name but the dealership doesn't, @the_joseph.
