I argued that his old jokes were just edgy humor, but she said the backlash would be huge and messy. She was right, and I got dragged into a week-long Twitter fight that went nowhere. Has anyone else had a friend correctly predict how a cancellation would play out?

Just lucky? That's a lazy way to look at it. Luck is just being ready when a chance shows up. Your friend probably put in a ton of work you never saw. Calling it all luck just ignores their effort and makes it sound like they didn't earn it. Most wins are a mix of hard work and timing, not just a random ticket.

Funny how people always call it luck when someone else gets the break. Maybe the real luck was being born into a family that could support them while they took those big risks. Not everyone has that safety net to fall back on.
