I used to defend every cancelation until a friend got caught up in it

My buddy Dave got called out last spring for a joke he made 7 years ago in a private group chat. I figured there had to be real harm behind it, so I spent about 14 hours digging through screenshots and recordings people posted. Turns out the joke was dumb but not hateful, and the person who started the callout had a personal grudge over a $50 debt. Has anyone else changed their mind after seeing a cancellation happen to someone they actually know?

Man that's rough. It's a whole different thing when you see the actual details instead of just hearing about it from people who weren't there.

Fifty bucks will get you cancelled quicker than a bad joke will.

Man, I once got in trouble for loaning a guy five dollars at work. Now HR has a whole file on me labeled "The Five Dollar Incident." So yeah, fifty bucks would probably get me exiled to a different state.
