I compared calling out someone publicly vs. privately... one definitely works better

Had a coworker who kept taking credit for my work. I called her out in a group chat last month and it just made everyone defensive and nothing changed. Another time I pulled someone aside after a meeting and talked one-on-one... that person actually apologized and fixed the behavior. Has anyone else seen this pattern in cancel culture debates?
