Found out a YouTuber I followed since 2012 got cancelled, had no idea
Was scrolling through old bookmarks and clicked on a channel I used to watch daily back in high school, only to find their last video was from 2020 with the comments locked. Turns out they were one of the first big targets of the call-out wave, but I was too busy with life to notice. Has anyone else stumbled onto an old favorite and realized they missed a whole cancellation drama?

Man that's a tough feeling, I've definitely been there too. Its wild how you can just lose touch with someone's content for a few years and come back to a completely different reality. I remember finding out one of my favorite commentary channels from like 2014 had some really gross stuff come out about them and I was just sitting there like "wait what happened to the funny gaming guy?" The worst part is when you start going through the comments and seeing the timeline of everything blow up in real time, it feels like you missed a whole chapter of internet history. You almost feel guilty for not knowing, even though its not like you could have done anything about it. At least now you know and can find some new creators to support, that's how I try to look at it.

Got to push back a little on that, sullivan.finley. I think the guilty feeling comes from wanting to believe the person you liked was still the same, but at some point you have to separate the art from the artist and move on without the guilt.

is it really that clean though? sometimes the art is so tied up in who the artist was that trying to separate it feels like lying to yourself about what you're actually supporting.
