Back when a local musician got called out, I stayed quiet. Here's why.

Honestly, when a musician from my town got dragged for dumb tweets from years ago, I was torn. Tbh, I liked their music but the comments were wrong. My hack is to step back before picking a side. I messaged them privately instead of posting online. Ngl, it felt risky but it opened a real talk. They owned up to it and are trying to do better. This way, you can call people out without burning bridges.

Messaging privately first is such a better move.

Isn’t it better to reply publicly sometimes?

Public replies can help for big issues, @simon_coleman, but a private message first keeps things from blowing up. The musician in the story actually listened because it wasn't a public shout match. Online call-outs often just make people dig in their heels. Giving space to fix mistakes quietly works better most of the time.
