A barista in Austin called me out for my cancel takes and now I actually listen more

I was at my usual coffee spot last Saturday and this barista overheard me ranting about a musician getting dropped from their label. She asked if I ever actually looked up the full story before forming an opinion, and honestly I felt like an idiot. Has anyone else had a stranger check them like that?

Been saying this for years and people act like you're the bad guy for noticing. Funny how perspective changes when it's your turn in the hot seat though, right?

Read something similar the other day actually. A guy on a podcast talked about how he used to roll his eyes at trigger warnings. Then he had a panic attack at work and realized how messed up it is when people don't give you a heads up. Hits different when it's your brain short circuiting, not someone else's. That whole "walk a mile in their shoes" thing is real. Nobody gets it until they're the one shaking in a bathroom stall.
