We swapped out our old pots for those boil-in-bag meals and it's a whole different game now.

My cabinet has three of those pouches right now. You trade twenty minutes of stirring for a pile of soft plastic trash. The sauce always tastes flat, like they forgot half the spices. Sure, you save time, but every meal starts to feel the same. It feels less like cooking and more like opening a valve.

Adding a pinch of salt and some chopped herbs turns that flat sauce around. Dianaanderson is right about the trade-off, but it's not always permanent. You can use the time you save to do something else, like prep a fresh side. Those pouches are a tool, not a full meal solution. Relying on them alone makes everything taste the same. I keep a couple for busy nights, but I always doctor them up.

It's the same quiet trade-off happening everywhere. We keep swapping effort for convenience in these tiny, permanent ways.
