Tried the 'ultralight' stove everyone raves about, burned my dinner twice

Picked up that BRS-3000T for $20 after seeing it in every gear list, but it took me three tries just to get a simmer without scorching my chili... anyone else find these tiny stoves impossible to control on actual trips?

Tiny stoves are great until you realize they're basically tiny jet engines aimed at your pot.

Burned my eyebrows off with my Jetboil last summer, @angelar57. The thing boiled water in 90 seconds but hissed like a pissed-off dragon.

Yikes, that's rough. Jetboils are no joke, they really do mean business. At least you can say you learned the hard way not to lean in too close when it's firing up. Hopefully the eyebrows grow back quick, singed hair smell is the worst. Solidarity from someone who once melted a hole in their tent floor with one of those things in a moment of pure stupidity. Tiny jet engine is exactly right, they should come with a warning label that says "this is basically a flamethrower.
