That tent pole snapped on me at 2am in the rain

I was camping up near Lake George last weekend and my main tent pole just gave out around 2 in the morning. It was pouring rain and I had to scramble to keep the tent from collapsing completely. I ended up using duct tape and a spare hiking pole to prop it up until morning. The pole was an aluminum one from a 4 year old tent I bought used, so I guess it was just worn out. I patched it enough to finish the trip but now I'm looking at replacement poles or maybe just a whole new tent. Has anyone else had a pole snap on them in the middle of a trip? What did you do to fix it in the moment?

Duct tape and a prayer is pretty much the universal tent repair kit, @daniel593. My buddy Jeff had his pole snap on a trip to the Adirondacks last fall, and he ended up splinting it with a broken branch and some shoelaces until morning. Not pretty, but it held long enough to get him through the night and out of the rain.
