Showerthought: a guy at REI in Denver showed me my sleeping bag was rated for the wrong temps
I was at the REI on 17th in Denver picking up a new headlamp when an employee named Marcus asked what bag I use. I told him my 20 degree bag and he pulled up the EN comfort rating on his phone and showed me it was really only good to about 35 for my body type. I had been freezing on trips near Leadville for two straight seasons and just assumed I was a cold sleeper. He said most people buy the survival rating, not the comfort rating, and it's the number one thing campers get wrong. Has anyone else checked their bag's actual comfort rating after buying it?
