Finally switched from my old Coleman to a hammock setup this summer

For years I was lugging that heavy 4-person tent on solo trips and hating life. Then I got a basic hammock with a bug net for about $40 at a gear swap near Asheville. Set it up in under 5 minutes on a recent Blue Ridge hike and actually slept way better without the ground rocks. Anyone else made the switch and found a favorite rainfly that doesn't break the bank?

Totally feel you on ditching the heavy tent setup, man. I did the same thing last year after one too many nights fighting with tent stakes on rocky ground. My first few hangs were kinda rough with a cheap tarp but then I grabbed the OneTigris Smokehouse fly for like $60 on sale and it's been solid through some serious rain in the Smokies. Shug Emery on YouTube has some great videos on tarp setups if you want ideas without spending a ton. The weight savings alone made it worth it for me, plus I sleep way better not getting stabbed by pine cones through the tent floor.
