Appreciation post: The old guy at REI who talked me out of the ultralight shelter
I was about to drop $380 on a 1.5 pound tent when a guy working the floor in Denver asked where I camp, and when I said above treeline in Colorado he just shook his head. He said he'd returned four of those same shelters that season from people who got wrecked by wind, and pointed me to a 4 pound one that's been solid for two summers now. Anyone else have a gear shop employee save them from a bad buy?
