Took a class on old leaf shutters, changed my whole approach

Signed up for a weekend workshop in Portland just to fill time. Instructor spent 20 minutes on cleaning a Compur #1 without removing the escapement. I used to strip every tiny part out every time. That always cost me patients and sometimes a loose screw. Now I only pull the shutter apart halfway unless the speeds are way off. Has anyone else switched to minimal disassembly for routine CLA's?
