Three dead K1000s in one week got me questioning my bench setup

Had a brutal stretch starting last Tuesday where I pulled three Pentax K1000s with the same exact stuck mirror issue. Each one needed new foam and a CLA, but the second body had a mangled screw that ate 45 minutes of my afternoon. Got so frustrated I rechecked my workspace lighting and realized my bench lamp was casting a shadow right over the advance mechanism. Has anyone else had a run of identical failures like that, or did I just hit a bad batch from one estate sale?

Got a buddy who had the same run with three broken rewind knobs off one auction lot, and he swears it was his bad habit of setting cameras down on a cluttered desk with a mug of coffee right in the shadow zone. @joelwells nailed it, spite does the heavy lifting until you fix the real problem, which for him turned out to be a busted LED strip over his bench.

Have you tried turning the lamp off and just using pure rage as lighting? I swear half my repairs run on spite alone at this point.
