Just realized I've been seeing a lot of repair attempts where people overtighten the tiny screws on a lens mount, stripping the threads.
I've had to fix three separate Canon EF mounts this month where the owner thought 'snug' meant 'crank it until it stops,' and now I'm curious if anyone has a good trick for explaining proper torque to a customer without getting too technical.

Tell them to stop turning when the screwdriver feels like it's pushing back.

Nah, that's how you strip a screw head. @danielr94, you gotta stop when you feel that first solid bit of resistance, not wait for it to push back hard. If you go until it fights you, you're already over-tightening.

My old shop teacher said the same thing as @danielr94, that last quarter turn is where most people mess up.
