Fixed an old Pentax Spotmatic last night and it felt good
I used to just throw dead cameras in a drawer and hope someone else could deal with them. But after a customer in Denver asked me to try fixing their dad's Spotmatic from 1968, I actually sat down, cleaned the sticky aperture blades with lighter fluid, and rebuilt the light meter circuit. It took about 3 hours but it worked first try. Anyone else find that older cameras are way easier to troubleshoot than the modern electronic stuff?

...and then it actually worked on the first try? That's wild. I'm pretty sure if I tried fixing an old camera I'd just end up with a pile of tiny screws and a new appreciation for my phone's camera.
