Changed my mind about cleaning old shutter blades with a brush

I used to think a soft brush was gentle enough, but after seeing a Leica IIIf's blades go from sticky to buttery smooth just by using a drop of naphtha on a swab, the difference was instant. The solvent dissolved decades of old grease the brush just pushed around. What's your go-to method for gummy leaf shutters?

Decades of old grease" sounds a bit dramatic for a camera shutter.

Oh man, it totally tracks though. We live in a world where every little problem gets described like it's a historic event. My toaster "suffers a catastrophic failure" instead of just breaking. It's just how we talk now.

Yeah and it's not just about making things sound bigger. It's like we're all trying to be the main character in our own movie. My phone doesn't die, it "experiences a total power loss." It's a weird way of trying to make our boring daily stuff feel more important.
