Bought a $400 lens cleaning kit that ruined my sensor

Thought I was being smart getting a professional grade cleaning kit online, but the swabs left residue all over my Nikon D750 sensor. Had to send it to a shop for a $150 deep clean anyway. Anyone else get burned by those expensive kits?

Why would you spend $400 on a cleaning kit when a $20 rocket blower works fine 99% of the time? The expensive stuff is usually just marketing hype. I use a basic brush and never touch the sensor unless absolutely necessary. Sensors are delicate, less is more.

Go figure the expensive stuff is just as bad as the cheap stuff. I've had the best luck just using a simple sensor cleaning pen and nothing else.

Stick with the basic blower and sensor brush, never had residue issues going that route.
