Absolute nightmare of a day with a stuck shutter on a Nikon F3 near Portland

Last Tuesday I had an F3 come in with a shutter that was completely locked up at 1/2000. Took me like 3 hours of chasing my tail before I found a tiny piece of foam from the mirror bumper that had wedged itself between the shutter blades. That thing must've been in there for years. Has anyone else run into weird foreign objects causing shutter jams on these old film cameras?

Nah, three hours sounds like user error honestly.

Read somewhere that the same sensor issues popped up in a 2019 service bulletin, so three hours might be optimistic even for a clean install. @the_morgan mentioned checking the mirror box first, which lines up with that. User error or not, the tolerance on those housings is basically zero.

Probably a stray spec of foam from that old bumper, always check the mirror box first on those.
