TIL most cafe owners in LA don't break even until month 8
I was reading a report from the LA Economic Development Department last night and it said 60% of new cafes here don't turn a profit until at least month 8. My spot on Sunset Blvd just hit month 5 and I'm bleeding cash on rent. Anyone else find that stat as scary as I did?

Month 8 seems about right honestly. Most restaurants and cafes I know take a good 6-12 months to even think about breaking even. Rent in LA is brutal but it's not the end of the world yet.

Yeah month 8 is still early days, @simon_coleman. I'm not winning any business awards with my bank account either but at least nobody's repo'd my espresso machine yet.
