That little coffee stand in Ventura taught me more about customer flow than any business book I've read

I watched how they handled a 30 person rush with only two employees and realized I've been overstaffing my morning shift by at least one person for the last 8 months, has anyone else cut labor costs by watching how other places do it?

Honestly I used to roll my eyes at stuff like this. I thought watching other businesses was a waste of time compared to just reading books or following some guru's system. But this post kinda changed my mind. Seeing how that stand works with just two people during a rush is a real eye opener. It's not about copying them exactly but realizing my own setup might be way too comfortable with extra bodies. Sometimes you need to see someone else make it work with less to realize you've been wasting money for months.

Nothing like a $4 cup of coffee to expose 8 months of bad business decisions.

and that $4 coffee probably taught them more than any business book ever could too lol. its wild how something that small can hit you right in the gut like that. like you spend months thinking you're fine and then one little thing makes you realize you've been bleeding money the whole time. i think a lot of people get comfortable with their processes and forget that efficiency is everything when margins are tight. watching someone else do it cheaper and faster is a reality check that most people don't want but definitely need.
