Spent $800 on a fancy espresso machine and it crapped out in 3 months

I bought this La Pavoni lever machine from a shop in Silver Lake because I wanted that 'authentic Italian experience' for the cafe. Paid $800, and after three months the gaskets started leaking and the boiler pressure was all over the place. Had to send it to a repair guy in Santa Monica who charged me $250 just to look at it. Has anyone else had bad luck with those home lever machines in a commercial setting?

$250 for a look-see? You got taken for a ride, my friend.

$250 does sound steep for a basic look, @barbara_baker57, but maybe it depends on what you're actually looking for? Not every situation is a scam, just some of them.

Used to think it was always a scam but you make a fair point.
