My busiest Saturday ever at the cafe nearly broke me

Last Saturday in New Orleans we had a record 87 orders between 8am and noon. I was running the espresso machine solo while my partner handled pastries and register. Three different people complained about wait times, and I accidentally gave a customer oat milk instead of whole milk. Has anyone else had a day where everything just piled up at once?

Hear me out but that honestly sounds like a pretty normal Saturday in food service. I mean 87 orders in 4 hours is a little over 21 an hour, so about 3 minutes per ticket. That's busy but it shouldn't completely break you if your systems are solid. The oat milk mistake and complaints about wait times sound more like you just got in your own head and let the stress snowball. Your mileage may vary but I've worked way worse shifts with way less help and you just have to keep your head down and work the tickets. Nobody's gonna remember the milk thing tomorrow, promise.

Man, I had a ticket machine jam on a Friday once and we just started shouting orders like a diner scene from a movie...

The real issue is the person scheduling only two people for that rush. Rookie move.
