I was oversteeping my cold brew for like 4 months straight
I always thought longer steep meant stronger better flavor. My cold brew was sitting 24 to 30 hours every batch and I just accepted the bitter bite it had. Then a barista friend from a shop in Silver Lake tried a cup and asked if I was going for charcoal notes. He showed me his 14 hour batch side by side and the difference was night and day. Now I stop at 14 hours on the dot and the flavor is way smoother without that harsh edge. Anyone else spend months doing something the wrong way before someone called them out?
